| Corker says economic plan won't help
Jim Cooper, D-Nashville. The Senate likely will take up the measure next week. Alexander, a member of the GOP leadership team in the Senate, has called on the Senate to approve the House bill, which also includes tax incentives for businesses. "Allowing small businesses and families to keep more of their own money should create jobs and provide a modest shot in the arm to the economy at a time when it needs it," Alexander said. "The sooner the Senate acts to pass the House's bipartisan bill, the better." Corker, however, was not persuaded. "I'm voting against the House bill, period. End of question," he said. Corker said he recognizes that the bill probably will pass the Senate. And, during a speech on the Senate floor and a conference call with reporters Wednesday, he seemed at times almost apologetic for opposing legislation that would put money directly into taxpayers' pockets.
Guess Which Drug Is Illegal?
It has been deemed highly dangerous, potentially toxic, even lethal, and for years the government and the Centers for Disease Control and your own mother have issued all sorts of lies and alarmist B.S. about it, like how it drains spinal fluid, induces brain aneurisms, makes you vote Libertarian. Which is not to say taking it doesn't have its random dangers, but, you know, please. This drug is famous for producing incredible feelings of euphoria, openness, warmth and love and happiness in almost everyone who takes it. It is staggeringly effective, non-addictive, and when taken somewhat responsibly and with a slight hint of intelligence, has very few, if any, notable or permanent side effects. Its positives border on miraculous. It can effortlessly break down long-held psychological barriers, remove obstacles to communication and stifled emotion, make patients/users feel open and happy and much better able to handle stress, anxiety, all manner of trauma.
A jump in foreclosure-fight resources
No foreclosure news would be the best news. But some recent items do provide a glimmer of assistance for homeowners in distress: Postcards to the edge: The Chicago Housing Department is mailing post cards listing resources for owners who've had a foreclosure filing that week. Typically, it's easier to get a lender to ease payment terms before a foreclosure is filed. But because of the number of foreclosures, lenders may be more likely to make a loan adjustment after the fact, notes Dan Lindsey of the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago. .
Keep passwords secure, away from your computer
You're about to enter in your user name and password to access your bank account information, perhaps to make a transfer or check your balance. But how do you know that Web site you're looking at in fact belongs to your bank? You feel confident it is because you bookmarked it before or you typed in the address yourself. But with today's sophisticated malware that can redirect your browser without you knowing it, for all you know that Web site could be a phishing site that's waiting to steal your password. And that's just one of the many hazards out there waiting for you. Fortunately, there are things available that can protect you. It used to be that malware such as computer viruses and the like were there just to bog your system down or even worse, erase all your data. But today's malware doesn't want you to know that it's there.

Otherwise, why have legal arguments if you're not going to give judges a chance to change their mind," Giuliani said. At the same time, Giuliani also pledged to only appoint judges who strictly interpret the Constitution -- a pledge that is normally interpreted as one to appoint judges who tend to oppose Roe v. Wade as wrongly decided. Such comments are meant to assure Republican voters, most of women are pro-life and, as polls show, likely to vote for someone else in the primary because of his pro-abortion position. The former New York City mayor also told reporters that abortion isn't the top issue to consider when appointing judges. "I think Roe against Wade is an issue. It is not the only issue," he said. Giuliani concluded that he would appoint judges like Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito who both enjoyed support from the pro-life community and ruled this year in favor of the federal ban on partial-birth abortions.
David Cameron shops at the Co-op in search of a Tory dividend
A political scrap has broken out over the counter of the Co-op. Best known as a high street shop providing reliable, cheap food and distinctive "divi" stamps — eventually replaced by a plastic dividend card — the co-operative movement was for many a chance to save by pooling resources in trade, credit and housing. For still others it was a life-changing opportunity: the young Fred Perry, whose father was a senior official in the Co-operative Party, learnt to play tennis on an Edwardian co-operative housing estate and went on to win Wimbledon three times. The Co-op is also a powerful and long-standing political idea — which Gordon Brown and David Cameron are competing to claim as their own. The Co-op movement has long been associated with the Left: the Co-operative Party and the Labour Party have been in formal alliance since 1927.
